DRD Pool Management, Inc. has managed commercial swimming facilities throughout the Maryland area since 1965. The original business concept was to provide commercial swimming facilities with a complete management and maintenance service. The concept of this service included facility summarization, facility winterization, providing the chemicals, providing liability insurance and staffing the facility. In 1965, Earl R. Watts, Jr., the founder, transformed this concept into a business and this was the conception of DRD Pool Management, Inc. Today, DRD remains family owned and family managed. During 1977-1985, Earl R. Watts, III, and David Watts worked for DRD as facility supervisors. In 1986, David, a 1985 graduate of the University of Delaware, and Earl, a 1984 graduate of Western Maryland College, joined the family business on a full time basis. The goal of DRD was sustained growth while maintaining a sense of personalized service with complete client satisfaction. By the early 1990's, DRD evolved into the premier management company serving the Maryland area. Corporate growth was met with increased efficiency and a higher level of performance and ultimately, client satisfaction. With success comes increased demand. In order to maintain the positive correlation between growth and client satisfaction, DRD needed additional resources. In 1993, Allen Watts, upon graduating from Johns Hopkins University, joined DRD on a full time basis. This addition to DRD has proven to be critical because it has allowed DRD to sustain its growth while satisfying the increased demand for quality control. This positive correlation has been a key ingredient to DRD's continued high annual client retention rate. Today, DRD strives to make itself better through a constant evaluation process of company policies and procedures. What works today may not work tomorrow. Whether it is the physical needs of a swimming facility, safety issues at a swimming facility, the demographics of the labor force or the litigious nature of society as a whole and its effect on the industry, DRD's progressive approach keeps DRD at the forefront of the industry.
